Brilliant green - a synthetic antiseptic drug that belongs to the aniline dyes.

It is used topically for skin disinfection after surgery, injury or inflammation.

Pharmacological group: antiseptics and disinfectants.

Pharmacological action

Brilliant green - it is one of the most active and high-speed antiseptics. It exhibits bactericidal properties (blocks reproduction) against Gram-positive bacteria such as Staphylococcus aureus and diphtheria bacillus. It has some antifungal activity.

Product form

Antiseptic comes in two forms:

  • 1% or 2% alcoholic solution of brilliant green, in bottles of 10 ml and 15 ml;
  • 1g powder package.

Indications and instructions for use of brilliant green

Alcoholic solution of brilliant green is used only topically on the skin for the disinfection of fresh post-operative and post-traumatic (bruises, cuts) wounds, as a prophylactic to prevent infection of tissues at meybomit (barley), blepharitis (an infectious inflammation of the eyelids), pyoderma (purulent inflammation of the skin), rozhistom inflammation, folliculitis (inflammation of hair follicles).
