Betamethasone - a drug, hormone, adrenal cortex. It has strong anti-inflammatory effect.

Pharmacological action

It refers to a group of synthetic corticosteroids (adrenal hormones). The drug has anti-inflammatory effect. The soluble form Betamethasone promotes rapid absorption of the active drug substance. As a result, there is virtually instantaneous intense action, although rather short.

Product form

Betamethasone is produced in the form of tablets, which contain 0, 0005 g of betamethasone.

A solution for injection is produced in 1 ml ampoules (0 0053 g betametazonadinatriya phosphate).

Betamethasone ointment containing 0, 64 mg of betamethasone dipropionate.

Indications

According to the instructions, Betamethasone is used in these cases:

- Diseases that are characterized by vascular lesions and connective tissue (collagen): rheumatoid arthritis, systemic lupus erythematosus, scleroderma, dermatomyositis;

- Allergic diseases: asthma, allergic rhinitis, angioedema, allergic to medications, complications of blood transfusion;

- Diseases of the skin with the presence of an allergy: atopic and contact dermatitis, atopic dermatitis, allergic eczema, exfoliative dermatitis, dermatitis herpetiformis, urticaria;

- Inflammatory diseases of the eye: uveitis, chorioretinitis, sympathetic iridocyclitis, central retinitis, herpes zoster eye, optic neuritis, optic neuritis;

- Tumor disease of lymph nodes;

- Soft tissue disorders: bursitis, synovitis, tenosynovitis;

- Diseases of the hematopoietic system: idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura and allergic;

- Congenital adrenal hyperplasia;

- Acute gouty arthritis;

- Pemphigus;

- Ulcerative colitis;

- Nephrotic syndrome;

- Emphysema;

- Pulmonary fibrosis;

- Nasal polyps;

Systemic lupus erythematosus: the initial dose is 4, 0-5, 0 mg supporting diversion;

Asthma: the initial dose is 3, 5-4, 5 mg supporting diversion;

Chronic asthma: the initial dose is 3, 5 mg, supports 0, 5-2, 5 mg;

Allergy to pollen: initial dose of 1, 5-2, 5 mg supporting diversion;

Inflammatory eye disease: the initial dose is 2, 5-4, 5 mg supporting diversion;

Emphysema and fibrosis: the initial dose is 2, 0-3, 5 mg, supporting 1, 0-2, 5 mg;

Congenital adrenal hyperplasia: an initial dose of 1, 0-1, 5 mg supporting diversion;

Bureyt: initial dose of 1, 0-2, 5 mg, supporting the destination.

The daily dose is best taken in the morning (coincidence with the biological rhythm of hormone secretion).

Betamethasone Ointment (betamethasone dipropionate) is used for topical application.
